It was Christmas day 1986.

I hadn’t slept the night before because I knew that sat under the tree was likely to be a brand new shiny Commodore 64 with monitor and 5 ¼ inch floppy drive to replace my Oric Atmos.

I wasn’t disappointed either – that morning changed everything.

Already a master of BASIC I decided it was time to make the leap to machine code.
So with dozens of books, sticky notes and a well used pin board....I got stuck in.

Two years later and after half a rain forest was felled for my dot-matrix printer paper to I had created my first piece of genuinely useful software.

But how to sell it?

I used pretty much all the money that I had placing ‘hero’ classified ads in every C64 hobbyist physical publication in the UK – my ad, printed in glossy paper at the back of the Magazines every teenage boy, dad and hobbyist were reading at that time.

With some great ad copy (Pain point, use case, solution and low price) – I sold over 400 copies mailed out with postage stamps upon receipt of cheques and postal orders!

What happened then?

Life moved on.

I became a professional marketer for some of the best known global brands and a political strategist for individual politicians and political parties.

Now?

40 years later I am building once again and loving every moment of it!
